From the outflow of Meddybemps Lake ({{coord|45.0390|-67.3576 |format=dms |type:river_region:US-ME |name= Dennys River source}}) in Meddybemps, the river runs about {{convert|23|mi}}[1] southeast and east to Dennysville, where it becomes tidal and soon joins the Hardscrabble River estuary to form Dennys Bay.
