It lies along local roads northeast of the city of Waterloo, the county seat of Black Hawk County.[1] Its elevation is 889 feet (271 m).[2] Although Dewar is unincorporated, it has a post office with the ZIP code of 50623,[3] which opened on 25 October 1887.[4] Dewar (formerly known as Emert) was platted in 1888.[5] References1. ^Rand McNally.
