Its territory covers Hong Kong Island and the outlying islands. The cathedral of the Diocese, St. John's Cathedral, is the oldest surviving Western ecclesiastical building in Hong Kong.[1] It was constructed in the 1840s.[2] The incumbent Bishop of Hong Kong Island, also Archbishop and Primate of Hong Kong, Paul Kwong, was enthroned and consecrated on 25 March 2006[3] and 15 January 2007[3] respectively. After retirement of then-Archbishop Peter Kwong in 2007,[4] he was elected on 3 February[5] and consecrated on 26 September[6] in the same year, replacing the outgoing Archbishop.
