Dodd College was a private junior college for women located in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was founded in 1927 by Monroe E. Dodd a pastor, who headed the Southern Baptist Convention from 1934 to 1935 and was a radio preacher. Dodd College closed in 1942. Among the faculty members was later Governor Jimmie Davis. Louisiana State Representative Jasper K. Smith of Vivian in northern Caddo Parish, met his wife, the former Lavonya Pullen (1911-1970), while she attended Dodd College. Davis was one of her teachers. His first and last terms in the legislature corresponded with the two Davis administrations.[1]Among the chairmen of the trustees was W. Scott Wilkinson, a Shreveport lawyer who served in the state House from 1920 to 1924.[2] {{Portal|Education|Baptist}}References1. ^{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=em4gqC1sY10C&printsec=frontcover#v=onepage&q&f=false|title=Jake Smith, Dinner with Mobutu: A Chronicle of My Life and Times |pages=17, 19|publisher=Xlibris Corporation |date=2005 |isbn=978-1413499438|accessdate=June 9, 2014}}{{Self-published inline|certain=yes|date=December 2017}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://lyonsfamilytree.com/2007/11/20/the-wilkinson-family/|title=The Wilkinson Family|publisher=WordPress|accessdate=August 25, 2014}} Sources
