It has rectangular windows in each bay, and semicircular windows in gable apexes lighting the attic storey. The original internal engine house is towards the West end of the building and is marked by a round-arched window. A stair and chimney tower was originally located just to West of it. The engine house itself was replaced by an external engine house in the courtyard, built or rebuilt late c19-early c20 (and subsequently extensively modified). A Lift tower added to South elevation (possibly extending an original privy tower) in 1907-8, and stair tower at the South-east corner added in 1928. A second mill occupying the west part of the rear of the site was in existence by c1830, but was itself rebuilt c1901-2. The second mill is 3-storeyed, brick, with cast-iron and timber internal structure. The eastern section of this second mill was added c1840, and survives substantially in original condition, with a stair tower added to the West. The taking-in doors suggest it was originally used for Warehousing. A Small office building added c1880 to East of the current site entrance is 2-storeyed with a 4-window range. There is also a single-storeyed wing to rear of the office originally including stabling. [1] HistoryThe original mill building and courtyard were constructed around March 1823 by David Bellhouse and Sons. The mill was built for Nathan Gough as a Room and power mill. The mill is an example of an early fire-proof millm with the internal structure comprised from cast-iron columns supporting transverse brick arches. The internal iron work was produced by the local firm Bowman, Galloway, and Co. Current UseReferences1. ^http://www.salford.gov.uk/d/adelphi-appendix-a-web.pdf Sec1:9 External links
