Rev. James W. Spann II Foundation is an American Educational Foundation. The foundation was created in Milwaukee, WI by Dr. Wilma N. Spann and her 8 children (James III, Timothy, Terrance, Kemberly, Kelby, Elverta, Peter, and Margo). Since 2002 they have been awarding college scholarships to high school graduates in the Milwaukee area. Dr. Spann created the foundation in honor of her late husband Rev. James W. Spann II. He was Pastor of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church, and was a civil rights activist. Rev. Spann passed away Jan. 11, 2001. The Wisconsin State Senate issued a A certificate of condolence when he passed away. He participated in several activities including the Fair Housing March, along side Father James Groppi, Claretta "Mother Freedom" Simpson, and Jeannetta Robinson. The scholarships are formally awarded at a banquet Memorial Day Weekend, in Milwaukee.
