The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region.[4] NameThe name Draga is derived from the Slovene common noun draga 'small, narrow valley', referring to the geographical location of the settlement.[5] In the past the German name was Suchen.[2] ChurchThe parish church in the settlement is dedicated to the Visitation of Mary and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ljubljana.
