释义 |
Drumlanrig (Scottish Gaelic: Druim Lannraig) is a settlement in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, which is best known for nearby Drumlanrig Castle. The earliest record for Drumlanrig is from 1384, spelled Drumlangryg. There are a number of possible etymologies for the name. It may represent Cumbric drum 'ridge' + -lanerc 'small area of cleared woodland'. However, the first element may also be Gaelic druim References1. ^{{Cite book|title = The Brittonic Language in the Old North: A Guide to the Place-name Evidence|last = James|first = Alan G.|publisher = |year = 2014|isbn = |location = |pages = 152|url = http://www.spns.org.uk/bliton/BLITON2014ii_elements.pdf|archive-url = https://web.archive.org/web/20140911083046/http://www.spns.org.uk/bliton/BLITON2014ii_elements.pdf|dead-url = yes|archive-date = 2014-09-11|volume = Volume 2: Guide to the Elements}} External links
