She was the first woman ever elected to the mayoralty of Windsor. Born in Oshawa, Ontario,[1] Kishkon grew up in London, England.[2] As mayor, she hosted a royal visit to Windsor by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1984.[2] She was awarded an honorary LL.D. by the University of Windsor in 1986.[3] Federal New Democratic Party leader Ed Broadbent asked Kishkon to run as the NDP's candidate in Windsor West in the 1988 federal election. Kishkon refused, however, citing the fact that she did not want to run against Herb Gray.[4] She died in Windsor at the age of 87 in 2018.[5][6] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.simplechoicecremation.ca/obituaries/Dr-Elizabeth-Eva-Kishkon?obId=3257585|title=Dr. Elizabeth Eva Kishkon|website=www.simplechoicecremation.ca}} {{Mayors of Windsor, Ontario}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Kishkon, Elizabeth}}{{Ontario-mayor-stub}}2. ^1 "The Royals in Detroit", Detroit News, September 13, 1999. 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.uwindsor.ca/units/senate/main.nsf/0/bc89bfe53896b6d485256dd600555902!OpenDocument&ExpandSection=-2.13,2.11,3.72#_Section2.13|title=University of Windsor: Honorary Degrees Conferred|publisher=}} 4. ^Jonathan V.
