Born in Hearst, Ontario and raised in Port Colborne,[3] He began his broadcasting career in 1973 after graduating from the Ryerson Polytechnical Institute radio and television arts program.[3] He worked for a variety of television and radio stations across Canada before joining the CBC's national news division,[3] and was the first Canadian to receive the Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Chicago in 1984.[1] References1. ^1 2 "Global News Appoints Eric Sorensen As New Washington Bureau Chief".
