词条 | Fairy Loup |
释义 |
The waterfall's name originates in a local legend of "a fairy having leaped from one side to the other",{{sfn|Ordnance Survey|1848–1858|p=146}} and is an example of a regional tradition of associating small streams with fairies.{{sfn|Hyslop|Hyslop|1912|p=89}} This waterfall was one of several features near Langholm described in the poetry of Hugh MacDiarmid.{{sfn|Bold|1990|p=18}} A {{convert|14.5|km|mi|adj=on}} loop trail passing through Canonbie and Rowanburn gives access to the waterfall.[2] Fly-tipping has been a problem in the area.
