It is located at 30°16'30N 71°57'30E with an altitude of 129 metres and lies to the south-west of the district capital - Khanewal. The village gained temporary notoriety [1] for allegedly being the hometown of "Azam Amir Kasav", one of the terrorists involved in the Mumbai attacks of 2008,.[2] However, it turned out that this person's real name is Mohammad Ajmal Amir,[3][4][5] and that Ajmal Amir is from a different village with the same name, Faridkot in the tehsil of Dipalpur, about 170 km to the north-east of Faridkot near Khanewal.[3][6][7] References1. ^Hunting Mumbai militant's roots 2. ^[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/dec/02/mumbai-gunman-faridkot Sleepy village baffled by link to captured terrorist] 3. ^1 {{Cite news | first=Praveen | last=Swami | pages= | language =| title= Terrorist's name lost in transliteration | date=2008-12-06 | publisher=The Hindu | url=http://www.hindu.com/2008/12/06/stories/2008120661211200.htm |accessdate=2008-12-06}} 4. ^{{Cite news | first= | last= | pages= | language =| title=Mumbai cops gave Ajmal his surname | date=2008-12-07 | publisher=Times of India | url=http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2008-12-07/mumbai/27927339_1_surname-mumbai-cops-kasab |accessdate=2008-12-07}} 5. ^{{Cite news|first= |last= |pages= |language= |title=Cops called him 'Kasav' as dad was a butcher |date=2008-12-07 |publisher=Times of India |url=http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2008-12-07/india/27922614_1_kasav-butcher-terror-attacks |accessdate=2008-12-07 }}{{dead link|date=December 2016 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} 6. ^{{Cite news | first= Saeed| last= Shah| pages= | language =| title=Mumbai terrorist came from Pakistan, local villagers confirm | date=2008-12-07 | publisher=The Observer | url=https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/dec/07/mumbai-terrorism-india-pakistan1 |accessdate=2008-12-07 | location=London}} 7. ^{{Cite news | first= | last= | pages= | language =| title=BBC report confirms Indian charge of Pakistan links to Mumbai attacks | date=2008-12-07 | publisher=The Hindu | url=http://www.hindu.com/2008/12/07/stories/2008120759850800.htm |accessdate=2008-12-07}} http://wikimapia.org/#lat=30.2741158&lon=71.9552994&z=15&l=0&m=a&v=2 {{Khanewal-geo-stub}} 1 : Khanewal District |
