It lies on the B1249 road, {{convert|9|mi|km|1}} south from Scarborough, {{convert|11|mi|km|1}} north-west from Bridlington, and {{convert|7|mi|km|1}} north-east from Sledmere. Foxhole's Grade II listed Anglican church is dedicated to St Mary, and is an 1866 limestone and sandstone construction by George Fowler Jones[2] Pevsner describes this neo-Norman church as: "one of the ugliest in the Riding... The north pier's are grotesque, with their undersized shafts on their over-high bases and their big square foliage capitals... Font: obstrusively Norman". He also notes several windows by Capronnier, and a 1720 cup by William Gamble.[3] {{clear left}}References1. ^{{NOMIS2011|id=1170217239|title=Foxholes Parish |accessdate=9 March 2018}} 2. ^{{NHLE|num=1174524 |desc=Church of St Mary, Foxholes|accessdate=16 April 2012}} 3. ^{{cite book|authorlink=Nikolaus Pevsner|last=Pevsner|first= Nikolaus|title=The Buildings of England.
