It is the home ground of Scottish Professional Football League club Annan Athletic, who have played there since 1953. From 2015 onwards, it is also being shared by Edusport Academy of the South of Scotland League. Another South League team, Mid-Annandale, shared Galabank between 2012 and 2014. HistoryAnnan Athletic, who were then playing in the Carlisle and District League, moved to Galabank in 1953. They had previously been based at Mafeking Park since the 1946-47 season. The club rejoined Scottish football in 1977, playing in the South of Scotland League and later the East of Scotland League. This enabled the club to attempt to qualify for the Scottish Cup, and Galabank hosted its first match in the national competition against Stranraer on 15 December 1979.[1] On 3 July 2008 Annan Athletic were accepted into the Scottish Football League for the first time, to replace defunct club Gretna.[2] Consequently, Galabank began hosting Annan's games in the Scottish Football League Third Division in the 2008–09 season. A party from the SFL inspected Galabank before Annan were accepted into the league. They deemed it to be of the required standard, with the provision that Annan install floodlights, which the club did before the start of their first season in the lowest tier of the Scottish Football League. Galabank has a capacity of {{SPFL-stadiums|annan}}.[3] The grass pitch was removed and a new 3G artificial surface was installed for the 2012–13 season.[4] Between 2012 and 2014, Galabank was shared by South of Scotland League club Mid-Annandale, whose previous ground in Lockerbie had become unusable.[5] Another South of Scotland League team, Edusport Academy, have been sharing Galabank from 2015 onwards.[6] RecordsThe highest ever official attendance to watch a match at Galabank was 2,517, set in a goalless draw between Annan Athletic and Rangers on 15 September 2012.[7] References1. ^{{cite web |url = http://www.annanathleticfc.com/the-club/history/ | title =History |publisher = Annan Athletic FC |accessdate = 5 September 2013}} 2. ^{{cite news | url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/scot_div_1/7487357.stm | title=Annan voted into Scottish league | publisher=BBC Sport | date= 3 July 2008}} 3. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://spfl.co.uk/clubs/annan-athletic/ |title=Annan Athletic Football Club|publisher=Scottish Professional Football League |accessdate=11 November 2013}} 4. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18735027|title=Rangers: Life in Scottish Division Three beckons|publisher=BBC Sport|date=14 July 2012}} 5. ^{{cite news |title=Annan set for historic day with Galabank 3G pitch bow |author=Andrew Burns |url=http://www.dgstandard.co.uk/dumfries-sport/2012/07/27/annan-set-for-historic-day-with-galabank-3g-pitch-bow-77296-31481241/ |newspaper=Dumfries & Galloway Standard |date=27 July 2012 |accessdate=5 September 2013}} 6. ^{{cite news|last1=Rutherford|first1=Nichola|last2=Rinaldi|first2=Giancarlo|title=South of Scotland Live|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-scotland-south-scotland-33694828|accessdate=20 September 2015|work=BBC News|date=29 July 2015}} 7. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19581842 |title=Annan Athletic 0-0 Rangers |work=BBC Sport|publisher=BBC |date=15 September 2012|accessdate=15 September 2012|quote=Annan sit eighth and their record attendance of 2,517 was enabled by the summer installation of terracing behind a second goal.}} External links
