It is not a sequel; there is no Entex Galaxian.[2] The gameplay is based on the Galaxian arcade game. Like the original, the player shoots at waves of attacking aliens as they launch kamikaze attacks. There are two user-selectable skill levels. In Galaxian 2, the player's ship is known as the Galaxy ship. In two-player mode, one player controls the Galaxy ship and the other player acts as the opponent, controlling the attacking aliens.[7] The maximum score that can be represented on the display is 9,999 points and will automatically wrap around to 0000. HardwareGalaxian 2 uses a fixed three-color VFD display, with the main play area having eight columns and twelve rows with dancing stars in the background. The case of the game is designed to look like the exterior of a spaceship, reminiscent of Battlestar Galactica.[5] Holding down the "missile" button whilst turning the game on initiates a graphical test and the game also has simple sound effects which can be turned off. Galaxian 2 takes four C type batteries or an AC adapter [6]ReceptionJaro Gielens, author of the book, Electronic Plastic describes the game as an "Excellent 2-player space shooter, with very special case design".[5] LegacyThe Futuretronics version of the game was seen in the movie Doom (2005).[2] In 2015 the game has been emulated by MESS.{{fact|date=June 2018}} References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://yofen.100webspace.net/game.php?id=526|title=Galaxian II|publisher=Yofen|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=Name: Galaxian II, Made by Entex}} 2. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Entex/Galaxian2.htm|title=Entex Galaxian 2|first=Rik|last=Morgan|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=Entex Galaxian 2, based on Bally/Midway's Galaxian arcade game.}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Entex/AstroGalaxy.htm|title=Entex Astro Galaxy|first=Rik|last=Morgan|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=Japanese version of Galaxian 2 (same model # as well).}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Entex/AstroGalaxy.htm|title=Entex Astro Invader|first=Rik|last=Morgan|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=Foreign version of Galaxian 2 (same model # as well), the box also has the Hales brand name on it, but it's clearly labelled Entex both on the box and the game as well.}} 5. ^1 2 {{cite web|url=http://www.handhelden.com/index.php?brand=entex&type1=lcd&type2=vfd&type3=led&game=entex/Galaxian2|title=Electronic Plastic:ENTEX|first=Jaro|last=Gielens|publisher=Electronic Plastic|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=Excellent 2-player space shooter, with very special case design.}} 6. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Manuals/Entex-Galaxian.pdf|title=Galaxian 2 manual|publisher=Entex Industries|year=1981|accessdate=2010-10-23|quote=To score as many points as possible by destroying the fleet of attacking aliens with missiles fired from the Galaxy ship}} 5 : 1980s toys|Galaxian|Fixed shooters|Handheld electronic games|Video games developed in the United States |
