Born in Kyneton, Victoria, he attended Melbourne Grammar School before becoming a solicitor. He served on Kyneton Shire Council before undergoing military service from 1915 to 1920. In 1922, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Nationalist member for Bendigo, succeeding Prime Minister Billy Hughes, who transferred to North Sydney, and defeating Edmund Jowett, the Country Party member for the abolished seat of Grampians. Hurry held the seat until his defeat in 1929, after which he became a lawyer. He died in 1951.[1] References1. ^{{cite web|last=Carr |first=Adam |title=Australian Election Archive |work=Psephos, Adam Carr's Election Archive |url=http://psephos.adam-carr.net/countries/a/australia |year=2008 |accessdate=2008-06-14 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/5QSilacl0?url=http://psephos.adam-carr.net/countries/a/australia |archivedate=20 July 2007 |df=dmy }} {{s-start}}{{s-par|au}}{{succession box | title=Member for Bendigo | before=Billy Hughes| after=Richard Keane| years=1922 – 1929}}{{s-end}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Hurry, Geoffry}}{{Australia-National-politician-stub}} 8 : Nationalist Party of Australia members of the Parliament of Australia|Members of the Australian House of Representatives for Bendigo|Members of the Australian House of Representatives|1868 births|1951 deaths|People from Kyneton|People educated at Melbourne Grammar School|20th-century Australian politicians |
