She composed symphonies, written works for chamber ensembles (instrumental), choral creations, theater and film music, etc. BiographyGhenadie Ciobanu was born on April 6, 1957, in Brătuşeni, Edineț, Moldavian RSS. He graduated from the Piano Faculty at the "Gnesin" Musical-Pedagogical Institute in Moscow (now the Russian Academy of Music) in 1982 and the musical composition at the "Gavriil Muzicescu" Conservatoire in Chisinau in 1986. He has participated in various national and international prestigious festivals such as: "FIMU '91" (Belford, France), "Music of Friends '95" (Moscow), "International Week of New Music" (Bucharest, 1991, 1992, 1996, 2002), "George Enescu" International Festival (Bucharest, 1991, 1998), "Days of Contemporary Music" (Bacau, 1996, 1998), "Danubian Music" (Satu Mare, 1996), "ENSEMS '96" (Valencia), "Two Days and Two Nights of New Music" (Odessa, Ukraine, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999), "The Days of New Music" Chisinau (1991-2002), "Mărțișor" Festival (Chisinau1989, 1995, 1998, 1999), "International Festival of Contemporary Music" (Minsk, Belarus, 1995), "Internationales Musik-Festival" (Heidelberg, 1992), "Moscow Autumn '96, '97, '98", "Kontrasts" International Contemporary Music Festival (Lvov, 1997), "Musical Autumn" (Cluj, 1997), "Musica Nova" (Sofia, 1998), "Europe-Asia '98"(Tatarstan, Kazan), "New Music Meetings" (Braila, Romania, 1999, 2002). His works have been performed at several festivals and musical meetings in France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Israel, Denmark, Romania, Russia, Estonia, Ukraine, Greece, China etc. Ghenadie Ciobanu teaches as a university professor at the "Theory of Music and Composition" Department of the Music Academy "G. Musicescu" in Chișinău. He is also a invited professor at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he has repeatedly lectured on composition and analysis of contemporary music (1992-1995). In 1997 he was awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa of "Gh. Dima" Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. In addition to composition and didactic work, Ghenadie Ciobanu also performs a number of functions such as: Executive Director of the International Summer Courses, Composition and Musical Interpretation; President of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of the Republic of Moldova (since 1990) and President of the National Moldovan Section of ISCM (International Society of Contemporary Music) (since 1993). He has participated as a member of the jury at various international contests of composition and interpretation. Between January 24, 1997 and April 19, 2001, he was minister of culture in the Republic of Moldova. He is founder and artistic director of the International Festival "Days of New Music" in Chișinău and founder of the contemporary music ensemble "Ars poetica", author and presenter of the permanent contemporary music broadcasting cycle "New Music Studio" at Radio Moldova. His musical creations are highly appreciated, receiving the National Youth Prize in Literature and Art (1991), First Prize at Composition Contest dedicated to the 50th anniversary of UNESCO and the UN (Chisinau, 1995), First Prize at Composition Contests organized by the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Moldova (1995, 1997, 1998, 2001), The Music Prize at the National Theater and Contemporary Drama Festival (Chisinau, 1998), The National Prize of the Republic of Moldova (1998) and the "Antena de Aur" Award of TV Moldova (1999). As a recognition of his merits in the development of the musical culture of the Republic of Moldova, Ghenadie Ciobanu was awarded the honorary title of "Master of Arts" of the Republic of Moldova (1999).
