Its seat is the town of Bardo, which lies approximately {{convert|10|km|mi|0}} south-west of Ząbkowice Śląskie, and {{convert|72|km|mi|0}} south of the regional capital Wrocław. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|73.41|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,635, of which the population of Bardo is 2,860, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 2,775. Neighbouring gminasGmina Bardo is bordered by the gminas of Kamieniec Ząbkowicki, Kłodzko, Stoszowice, Ząbkowice Śląskie and Złoty Stok.
