Its seat is the village of Brzozie, which lies approximately {{convert|16|km|mi|0}} north-east of Brodnica and {{convert|73|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} north-east of Toruń. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|93.74|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 3,589 (3,746 in 2011). The gmina contains part of the protected area called Górzno-Lidzbark Landscape Park.
