Its seat is the village of Frysztak, which lies approximately {{convert|14|km|mi|0}} south-west of Strzyżów and {{convert|36|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south-west of the regional capital Rzeszów. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|90.51|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 10,635. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Czarnorzeki-Strzyżów Landscape Park.
