Its seat is the town of Głubczyce, which lies approximately {{convert|53|km|mi|0}} south of the regional capital Opole. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|294.33|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2007 its total population is 23,997 (of which the population of Głubczyce is 13,333, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 10,664). GeographyGmina Głubczyce is located in the Głubczyce Hook ({{lang-pl|worek głubczycki}}) partly on the Głubczyce Plateau ({{lang-pl|Płaskowyż Głubczycki}}; a part of the Silesian Lowlands) and partly in the Opawskie Mountains (a part of the Eastern Sudeten). Gmina Głubczyce is located in the Oder River Basin (rivers: Cyna/Psina, Opawa, Opawica, Stradunia, Troja).
