Its seat is the village of Karsin, which lies approximately {{convert|24|km|mi|0}} south of Kościerzyna and {{convert|69|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} south-west of the regional capital Gdańsk. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|169.2|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,905. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Wdydze Landscape Park.
