Its seat is the village of Michałowice, which lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) east of Pruszków and 11 km (6 mi) south-west of Warsaw. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|34.88|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 15,529.
