Its seat is the village of Przystajń, which lies approximately {{convert|17|km|mi|0}} west of Kłobuck and {{convert|74|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} north of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|88.85|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,978. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Upper Liswarta Forests Landscape Park.
