Its seat is the village of Szerzyny, which lies approximately {{convert|31|km|mi|0}} south-east of Tarnów and {{convert|99|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} east of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of {{convert|82.24|km2|sqmi|1}}, and as of 2006 its total population is 8,211. The gmina contains part of the protected area called Pasmo Brzanki Landscape Park. VillagesGmina Szerzyny contains the villages and settlements of Czermna, Ołpiny, Swoszowa, Szerzyny and Żurowa.
