}} Goran Suton (born August 11, 1985) is a Bosnian Croat[1][2] professional basketball player for Movistar Estudiantes of the Liga ACB. He has completed his college career with the Michigan State Spartans in 2009. Early yearsSuton was born on the outskirts of Sarajevo in then-Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia, to father Miroslav and mother Živana,[3] a Bosnian Croat and Bosnian Serb respectively. During the Bosnian War, he lived with his family in Gornji Milanovac, Serbia.[4] He played for the Bosnian U14 side before his family moved to the US, where he attended Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan, United States. There he led the Everett Vikings to a Class A boys basketball title in 2004 as a senior. College careerSuton first rose to notability during his freshman season at Michigan State, when he notoriously missed a last-second layup in a hotly contested game against Gonzaga in the Maui Invitational.[5] Suton developed into a key player for the Spartans during his career, earning second team All-Big Ten marks during his senior season.[6] Suton helped the Spartans to an NCAA Final Four as a senior in 2009. He was especially effective during the 2009 final four run, holding USC star Taj Gibson to three points, and hitting a string of jump shots against Louisville en route to 19 points.[7][8] Suton was named Most Outstanding Player of the Midwest regional in 2009. Suton was named to the first team all-tournament. Professional careerSuton was chosen 50th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2009 NBA Draft. Jazz coach Jerry Sloan cut Suton during the preseason on October 21, 2009. Suton signed a contract with Spartak St. Petersburg of the Russian Basketball Super League on November 2, 2009. For the 2010–2011 season he played with Angelico Biella of Italy. In July 2011 he signed with Cibona Zagreb and won Croatian championship with them.[9] In August 2012 Suton joined Cibona's city rivals KK Cedevita. In August 2014, he moved to Spain and signed with Joventut Badalona.[10] On August 5, 2015, Suton signed a new deal with Joventut Badalona for one more season after averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in his first season in Liga ACB.[11] On August 2, 2016, he signed with Estudiantes.[12] PersonalSuton became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 2006.[13] References1. ^{{cite news|title=Goran Suton–Adriatic league|url=http://www.aba-liga.com/player.php?id=2051|accessdate=1 November 2014|work=Abaliga.com}} 2. ^{{cite news|title=Goran Suton–Euroleague|url=http://www.euroleague.net/competition/players/showplayer?pcode=002106|accessdate=1 November 2014|work=Euroleague.net}} 3. ^https://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/02/sports/ncaabasketball/02michstate.html 4. ^{{cite web|title=Hrvata oterale NATO bombe|url=http://www.kurir-info.rs/hrvata-oterale-nato-bombe-clanak-156740|publisher=kurir-info.rs|accessdate=4 October 2013}} 5. ^http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recap?gid=200511220358 6. ^Conference hands out Big Ten men's basketball awards {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090414172442/http://www.bigtennetwork.com/sports/mbasketball/story.asp?list_id=1&story_id=3189752 |date=2009-04-14 }} 7. ^http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=294000061 8. ^http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=294000059 9. ^Cibona signs big man Suton 10. ^{{cite news|title=Goran Suton from Cedevita to Joventut |url=http://www.abaliga.com/a7771/News/Goran_Suton_from_Cedevita_to_Joventut.html |archive-url=https://archive.is/20141101162243/http://www.abaliga.com/a7771/News/Goran_Suton_from_Cedevita_to_Joventut.html |dead-url=yes |archive-date=1 November 2014 |accessdate=1 November 2014 |work=Abaliga.com }} 11. ^{{cite news|title=Goran Suton, renovations were for FIATC Joventut|url=http://solobasket.com/liga-endesa/goran-suton-renovacion-de-lujo-para-el-fiatc-joventut|accessdate=2 August 2015|work=Solobasket.com|language=es}} 12. ^Estudiantes adds size with Goran Suton 13. ^http://www.tampabay.com/sports/basketball/college/article987964.ece External links
