He has served elected positions on two levels of government, on the provincial and municipal level. Wyant currently serves as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan since winning a by-election in 2010.[1] He served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General since May 25, 2012, and as Minister Responsible for SaskBuilds since August 15, 2018.[2] On August 23, 2016, in addition to keeping his current duties, he was appointed Minister of Corrections and Policing, and Minister Responsible for SaskPower. He also previously served as Deputy Government House Leader from May 25, 2012.[3] He resigned from Cabinet after announcing on August 25, 2017 that he would be running for the Saskatchewan Party Leadership to replace Premier Brad Wall.[4] Wyant lost the leadership election to Scott Moe, but Moe appointed him as deputy leader. When Moe was sworn in as premier, he appointed Wyant as Deputy Premier and Minister of Education. Wyant previously served as a member of Saskatoon City Council from 2003 to 2010.[5][6] He was born and raised in Saskatoon, earning both a Bachelor of Arts and his law degree at the University of Saskatchewan.[7][8] In 2008 he was appointed Queen's Counsel.[9][10] Wyant has also served as a member of the Saskatoon Board of Police Commissioners and on the Board of Directors of Saskatoon's Credit Union Centre.[11][12] Political careerWyant was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan in a by-election on October 18, 2010, representing the electoral district of Saskatoon Northwest as a member of the Saskatchewan Party.[13] He was re-elected in the 2011 general election.[2] He previously served on Saskatoon City Council, serving in Ward 5 from 2003 until 2010. On August 25, 2017 Wyant announced he was running for the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party.
