Early lifeGraham Elliot Bowles was born in Seattle, Washington.[4][5] A self-described "Navy brat", Graham has traveled the world and all fifty states,[6] sparking an intense interest in food and music, which led him to attend Johnson & Wales University.[5] CareerSince graduating from Johnson & Wales University in 1997, he has garnered numerous awards and critical acclaim, including multiple James Beard Foundation award nominations, competing on both Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters, being named one of Food & Wine’s "Best New Chefs" (2004) and he became the youngest chef in the States to receive four stars from a major publication (Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times) – all before the age of 30.[6] At the age of 27 he was the youngest Four Star Chef to be named in any city, also earning himself a spot on Crain's Chicago Business list of "40 Under Forty", putting him in an elite club that includes luminaries such as President Barack Obama, whom Elliot had the privilege of cooking for on the President's 49th birthday.[7] In May 2008, he opened his eponymous restaurant, which was the first French casual fine dining restaurant in Chicago.[8] In 2009, Elliot appeared on the TV show Top Chef Masters. In the show, he cooked for The Heart and Stroke Foundation due to his nephew needing a heart transplant. Awards and honorsGraham Elliot Bistro received three stars from the Chicago Tribune, and two stars in the 2013 Michelin Guide.[9] The restaurant was one of just three restaurants in the city to hold two Michelin stars (only three Chicago restaurants have received the top award of three stars). He has been nominated for a James Beard Award three times.[10] Collaborations and marketingIn addition to being judge and host of MasterChef and MasterChef Junior from 2010-2016, Graham has also been a judge on Food Network's Cooks vs. Cons hosted by Geoffrey Zakarian.[11][14] He is now a judge on Top Chef. He has worked as the Culinary Director at Lollapalooza, a three-day music festival in Chicago, every year since 2009, where he has cooked for both the public as well as backstage for the performers.[12] In June 2012, he opened Graham Elliot Bistro in Chicago’s West Loop. The bistro uses traditional techniques and ingredients to showcase its take on classic American cuisine.[13] That same year also saw Elliot named Chef of the Year and inducted into the Chicago Chefs Hall of Fame.[14] Additionally, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaimed September 19 "Graham Elliot Day" in the city of Chicago.[15] In 2017, Elliot was a pitchman in an infomercial for the Gotham Steel Double Grill. Personal lifeGraham resides in Chicago with his wife/business partner Allie Elliot, and his three children, Mylo Ignatius, Conrad Matthias and Jedediah Lindsay.[16] Elliot sings and plays guitar.[17] References1. ^Vettel, Phil "Graham Elliot Bowles is just Graham Elliot now", Chicago Tribune blog, July 29, 2010 {{MasterChef (US TV series)}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Elliot, Graham}}2. ^U.S. Public Records Index Vol 1 & 2 (Provo, UT: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc.), 2010. 3. ^Graham Elliot Bowles, Chef, Blackbook, February 11, 2010 4. ^Front Burner: Graham Elliot Bowles, Chicago, June 2008 (accessed June 24, 2011) 5. ^1 Graham Elliot at starchefs.com 6. ^{{Cite web|url=http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2012-08-02/features/ct-dining-0802-graham-elliot-20120802_1_graham-elliot-andrew-brochu-bryce-caron|title=Graham Elliot aims for sharp flavors, some deliver a jolt|website=tribunedigital-chicagotribune|access-date=2016-05-10}} 7. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.gebistro.com/#about|title=GEB Chicago - Graham Elliot Bistro :: 841 w. randolph st. chicago, il 60607 :: ph 312.888.2258|website=www.gebistro.com|access-date=2016-03-25}} 8. ^Bio: Graham Elliot Bowles at BravoTV.com 9. ^Michelin Chicago Guide 2013: Alinea, L2O, Graham Elliot grab top honors, Chicago Tribune, 13 November 2012 (accessed December 15, 2012) 10. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.tv.com/gordon-ramsay-has-a-new-fox-show-masterchef/webnews/5063.html |title=Gordon Ramsay Has A New Fox Show |publisher=TV.com |year=2010 |accessdate=June 21, 2010 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100624021952/http://www.tv.com/gordon-ramsay-has-a-new-fox-show-masterchef/webnews/5063.html |archivedate=June 24, 2010 |df= }} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=http://blog.foodnetwork.com/fn-dish/2016/02/cooks-vs-cons/|title=It’s Anyone’s Game in a Culinary Battle of Cooks vs. Cons|year=2016|accessdate=February 10, 2016}} 12. ^1 {{Cite web|url=http://www.foodnetwork.com/hosts/graham-elliot/bio.html|title=Graham Elliot Bio : Food Network|website=www.foodnetwork.com|access-date=2016-03-25}} 13. ^{{Cite web|url=http://chicago.seriouseats.com/2012/06/graham-elliots-geb-opens-in-the-west-loop.html| title=Graham Elliot's G.E.B.
