Born in England, he represented Barbados at international level. Club careerHurdle began his career with Fulham, but never made an appearance for the team.[2] After a year spent in non-league football with Dorchester Town, Hurdle signed for Brentford in 1994, making 90 appearances over the next four seasons.[2] After leaving Brentford in 1998, Hurdle signed for Plymouth Argyle, but never made a league appearance for the team and left after just a month,[2] moving to non-league side Bognor Regis Town. Hurdle later played non-league football for Basingstoke Town.[5] While at Basingstoke, Hurdle spent a loan spell at Crawley Town.[3] Hurdle also appeared for a number of other non-league sides, including Whyteleafe, Carshalton Athletic, St Albans City, Dulwich Hamlet, Yeading, Molesey, Egham Town and Walton & Hersham.[4][5] International careerHurdle represented Barbados at international level.[6] In March 2000, he turned down a chance to play internationally to help Crawley Town in their Southern Football League Premier Division relegation battle, stating he would prefer to play against Dorchester Town saying it was the "bigger game".[7] He said: "Crawley's need is far greater than that of Barbados. They'll be able to get a result without me, but it's big match for Crawley and a game we can't afford to lose".[7] He has also represented a Caribbean All Stars team in an exhibition game against Jamaica at the Giants Stadium, New Jersey in March 1999.[7] Personal lifeAfter leaving Fulham and prior to returning to professional football in 1994, Hurdle worked as a bus driver.[8] As of May 2011, he was working as a production manager in television.[8] References1. ^{{Hugman|9749|accessdate=11 November 2016}} 2. ^1 2 {{Cite web |url=http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=3748 |title=Gus Hurdle {{!}} Football Stats {{!}} No Club {{!}} Age 44 {{!}} 1992–2001 {{!}} Soccer Base |website=www.soccerbase.com |access-date=14 February 2018}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/5164853.Hurdle_faces_a_pay_cut/|title=Hurdle faces a pay cut|accessdate=19 August 2009|date=11 February 2000|publisher=The Argus}} 4. ^{{cite news | url = http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?newsmode=FULL&nid=15298 | archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20120922191206/http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/news/index.php?newsmode=FULL&nid=15298 | archivedate = 22 September 2012 | publisher = Non-League Daily | title = Stompond Lane becomes Hurdle's latest point of call | date = 28 January 2004 | accessdate = 23 August 2009 }} 5. ^1 {{Cite web |url=http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/teams/players.php?pid=6629 |title=Gus Hurdle |publisher=Non-League Daily |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120922191131/http://www.nonleaguedaily.com/teams/players.php?pid=6629 |archive-date=22 September 2012 |access-date=19 August 2009}} 6. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.thefinalball.com/xray.php?jogador_id=492592&jogador_na_equipa_id=900|title=Player x-ray :: Gus Hurdle :: Barbados :: thefinalball.com|website=www.thefinalball.com|accessdate=11 November 2016}} 7. ^1 2 {{cite news | url = http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/5164042.Non_League_football___Hurdle_turns_down_World_Cup_date/ | publisher = The Argus | title = Hurdle turns down World Cup date | date = 17 March 2000 | accessdate = 23 August 2009 }} 8. ^1 {{Cite web |url=http://world.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/WhereAreTheyDetail/0,,10421~2347274,00.html |title=Brentford {{!}} News {{!}} Where Are They Now? {{!}} Where Are They Now? {{!}} WHERE ARE THEY NOW? |website=world.brentfordfc.co.uk |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180215084236/http://world.brentfordfc.co.uk/page/WhereAreTheyDetail/0,,10421~2347274,00.html |archive-date=15 February 2018 |dead-url=yes |accessdate=14 February 2018}} External links
