One series of the comedy was commissioned by BBC Scotland and the show is produced by Effingee Productions.[1][2] The series stars Ford Kiernan as Colin Holliday, who is the owner of the titular Happy Hollidays, a fictitious caravan site in Scotland, Karen Dunbar as cabaret singer Joyce Mullen and Gavin Mitchell as rival caravan site owner Mike Bryan, with a supporting cast portraying the various staff on the two caravan sites and the guests staying at the site. The series follows Colin Holliday running the caravan site, dealing with his guests, who he sees as a source of revenue and little else, and trying to outwit Mike Bryan, his arch enemy.[1][2] Cast

ReceptionThe series received negative reviews. Writing for The Sun, John Smeaton wrote "Happy Hollidays gave me arse-ache. I could see every pun coming a mile off in the new series about a caravan park starring Ford Kiernan - and not one of them was funny. There hasn't been a decent BBC comedy since the Still Game crew all fell out. The follow-ups Dear Green Place and now Happy Hollidays have been lame, to say the least. Ford, pal, please. It's time to kiss and make up with Greg Hemphill - you're simply not funny without him."[3] References1. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/proginfo/nations/scotland/scpiwk35.pdf |title=BBC WEEK 35, 29 August – 4 September 2009 Programme Information, Television & Radio |accessdate=11 September 2009 |format=PDF |work=BBC Scotland Press Office |publisher=BBC }} 2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00mkgb7 |title=Happy Hollidays |accessdate=11 September 2009 |publisher=BBC }} 3. ^{{cite web | url = https://www.thesun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/papercolumnists/smeato/2629947/Dont-mess-with-my-Miss-Marple-STV.html | work = The Sun | accessdate = 18 December 2016 | title = Don't mess with my Miss Marple STV}} External links
