Whilst his name was Henry he was known as Harry in his football career. Although primarily a half forward flanker and forward pocket, Pears also spent some time as a rover. He kicked seven goals in a game against Geelong in his debut season and was a member of Collingwood's 1902 and 1903 premiership teams. Pears also played in a losing Grand Final in 1905. Pears died on 20 April 1912, after playing a pre-season game for Port Melbourne.[2][3] References{{Commons category}}1. ^{{cite web|url=https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/players/harry-pears/|title=Harry Pears|publisher=Collingwood Forever|accessdate=2 September 2014}} 2. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article79892002 |title=WELL-KNOWN FOOTBALLER. |newspaper=Daily News |location=Perth |date=20 April 1912 |page=12}} 3. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article241490124 |title=DEATH OF A FOOTBALLER. |newspaper=The Herald |issue=11,376 |location=Victoria, Australia |date=20 April 1912 |page=6}}
