Station layoutThe station consists of two side platforms serving two tracks. The station shares a building with a community facility named "Harmony Hall Harumachi". There is a small waiting area and a staffed ticket window. Access to the opposite side platform is by means of a covered footbridge.[2][3][4] Management of the station has been outsourced to the JR Kyushu Tetsudou Eigyou Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of JR Kyushu specialising in station services. It staffs the ticket window which is equipped with a POS machine but without a Midori no Madoguchi facility.[5][6] Adjacent stations{{service rail start}}{{j-route|route=Sasaguri Line (Fukuhoku Yutaka Line)|col=Grey|f=w}}{{j-rserv|next={{STN|Chōjabaru}}|previous={{STN|Yusu|Fukuoka}}|service=Local}}{{end box}}HistoryThe privately run Kyushu Railway opened a stretch of track from {{STN|Yoshizuka}} to {{STN|Sasaguri}} on 19 June 1904, with Harumachi opening on the same day as an intermediate station on the track. When the Kyushu Railway was nationalized on 1 July 1907, Japanese Government Railways (JGR) took over control of the station. On 12 October 1909, the station became part of the Sasaguri Line. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR), the successor of JGR, on 1 April 1987, JR Kyushu took over control of the station.[7][8] Passenger statisticsIn fiscal 2016, the station was used by an average of 1,407 passengers daily (boarding passengers only), and it ranked 124th among the busiest stations of JR Kyushu.[9] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.jrkyushu.co.jp/english/pdf/jrkyushu_routemap_en.pdf|title=JR Kyushu Route Map|publisher=JR Kyushu|accessdate=3 March 2018}} {{commons category}}{{Fukuhoku Yutaka Line}}2. ^1 {{Cite book|last=Kawashima|first=Ryōzō|script-title=ja: 図説: 日本の鉄道 四国・九州ライン 全線・全駅・全配線・第3巻 北九州 筑豊 エリア|year=2013 |publisher=Kodansha|isbn=9784062951623|trans-title=Japan Railways Illustrated.
