释义 |
The Haughtons Flat Diversion Tunnel is a Victorian gold rush diversion tunnel on the Nicholson River in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. It is located at the southern end of the former Deptford township, approximately 35 km north of Bairnsdale. The tunnel is approximately 50 m long.[1][1] The diversion was probably excavated in 1873 by the Nicholson River Sluicing Company. The tunnel was used to divert the waters of the Nicholson River in order to work ground 'hitherto inaccessible to the individual miner'. The site is listed in the Victorian Heritage Register.[2] References1. ^{{Citation | title = Historic Gold Mining Sites in Gippsland Mining Division, Gazetteer: State & Regional Significant Sites | work = Victorian Goldfields Project | publisher = Department of Natural Resources and Environment | date = February 1998 | url = http://www.dpcd.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/44558/gippslandminingdistrict.pdf | archiveurl = https://www.webcitation.org/5x1yWnQRT | archivedate = 2011-03-08 }} {{coord|37|35|39|S|147|42|13|E|region:AU-VIC_type:landmark|display=title}}{{Gippsland-geo-stub}}2. ^1 {{Citation | title = Haughtons Flat Gold Diversion Tunnel, Victorian Heritage Register (VHR) Number H1262 | work = Victorian Heritage Database | publisher = Heritage Victoria | url = http://vhd.heritage.vic.gov.au/vhd/heritagevic#detail_places;4987 | accessdate = 2010-09-13 }} 4 : Victoria (Australia) gold rush river diversions|Victorian Heritage Register|East Gippsland|Tunnels in Victoria (Australia) |
