The building is Georgian and dates back to 1718,[1] four storeys, with typical long Georgian-bay windows painted in beige. Owned by Peter McKay and Douglas Blain, it is named after the essayist William Hazlitt who died in the house in 1830; he has a blue plaque on the wall to the left of the front door.[2] Due to its heritage, the hotel is popular with writers,[3] but also artists, actors and models.[4][3] It was awarded the César Award for London Hotel of the Year by The Good Hotel Guide in 2002.[2] The hotel has 30 rooms – 3 singles, 24 doubles, 2 junior suites and 1 suite. The rooms are furnished with four poster beds, antiques and old paintings and the bathrooms contain claw-footed baths.[4] The hotel contains over 2,000 paintings and prints.[5] The rooftop of the hotel has been used for photoshoots.[6] References1. ^{{cite book|last=Jones|first=Richard|title=Frommer's Memorable Walks in London|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=P8M8y9fs55MC&pg=PA131|accessdate=28 January 2011|date=3 March 2006|publisher=John Wiley and Sons|isbn=978-0-471-77338-2|page=131}} 2. ^1 {{cite book|last1=Raphael|first1=Caroline|last2=Balmer|first2=Desmond|title=The Good Hotel Guide 2011?|year=2002|publisher=The Good Hotel Guide Limited|edition=25|isbn=978-0-09-187967-9|pages=9–10}} 3. ^{{cite book|last1=Porter|first1=Darwin|last2=Prince|first2=Danforth|title=Frommer's Portable London 2009|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=6n4TJIdEp60C&pg=PA48|accessdate=28 January 2011|date=31 October 2008|publisher=Frommer's|isbn=978-0-470-28787-3|page=48}} 4. ^1 {{cite book|last=Brewer|first=Stephen|title=The Unofficial Guide to England|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=XQ2yzQyvgJwC&pg=PA99|accessdate=28 January 2011|date=1 June 2007|publisher=John Wiley and Sons|isbn=978-0-470-05225-9|page=99}} 5. ^1 {{cite book|last1=Porter|first1=Darwin|last2=Prince|first2=Danforth|title=Frommer's London 2011|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Bk6bsAUBIAIC&pg=PT153|accessdate=28 January 2011|date=21 September 2010|publisher=John Wiley and Sons|isbn=978-0-470-61439-6|page=153}} 6. ^{{cite book|title=SPIN|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=9Cu_K00ObfsC&pg=PA96|accessdate=28 January 2011|date=July 2010|publisher=SPIN Media LLC|page=96|issn=0886-3032}} External links
