释义 |
Henry Benson was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons variously between 1626 and 1641. Benson was Deputy Steward of Knaresborough.[1] In 1626 he was elected Member of Parliament for Knaresborough. He was re-elected in 1628 and sat until 1629 when King Charles decided to rule without parliament for eleven years.[2] In April 1640, Benson was re-elected MP for Knareborough in the Short Parliament. He was re-elected in November 1640 for the Long Parliament.[2] However he was expelled from the House of Commons by vote on 2 November 1641 for selling protections to men who were not his servants.[3] Benson declared that there was no better replacement for his than his son in law William Deerlove, although Deerlove's election was declared void.[4] Benson took arms for the King and in February 1642 was reported to be occupying Plupton tower near Knaresborough with two cannon.[5] Benson married Elizabeth Deerlove at Knaresborough in 1633.[6] References1. ^Sir Henry Slingsby {{s-start}}{{s-par|en}}2. ^1 {{Cite Notitia Parliamentaria|converted=1|part=2|pages=229–239}} 3. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=WykOAAAAQAAJ&pg=RA1-PA10&lpg=RA1-PA10&dq=%22Deerlove%22+Benson&source=bl&ots=ZKEk61N0qC&sig=w7mneGzeckWLFFkfqBKZ_0g8LOQ&hl=en&ei=TKZFTavRNduT4Abyv_AG&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CCgQ6AEwBDgU#v=onepage&q=%22Deerlove%22%20Benson&f=false The parliamentary or constitutional history of England Volume 9 ] 4. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=rX_onaBtmA0C&pg=PA424&lpg=PA424&dq=%22Deerlove%22+Benson&source=bl&ots=dXryMn0OGX&sig=mWNOPYhJ7XBB7FHsK-BVoj0Ut-U&hl=en&ei=l6dFTaKVNpWK4gbT-qQr&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CBkQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=%22Deerlove%22%20Benson&f=false Robert Beatson A chronological register of both houses of the British Parliament] 5. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=puaOj2rDBJ0C&pg=PA363&lpg=PA363&dq=%22Henry+Benson%22+Knaresborough&source=bl&ots=ps-DLpkLtW&sig=t26MOCRfJltz2vZaE8ryuQzl37I&hl=en&ei=gKtFTZLTEsOT4gbJvOySBg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CCkQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=%22Henry%20Benson%22%20Knaresborough&f=false The Fairfac Correspondence] 6. ^Dearlove name | title=Member of Parliament for Knaresborough | before= Sir Richard Hutton | before2= Sir Henry Slingsby, 1st Baronet | with= Sir Richard Hutton, the younger 1 | years=1626–1629 | after= Parliament suspended until 1640 }}{{succession box | title=Member of Parliament for Knaresborough | before= Parliament suspended since 1629 | with= Sir Henry Slingsby, 1st Baronet | years=1640–1641 | after= Sir Henry Slingsby, 1st Baronet | after2= William Deerlove }}{{s-end}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Benson, Henry}} 8 : Year of birth missing|Year of death missing|People from Knaresborough|Cavaliers|English MPs 1626|English MPs 1628–1629|English MPs 1640 (April)|English MPs 1640–1648 |
