Best viewed in the springtime as it tends to dry up in the summer months.[2] Nearby attractions include Hermitage ruins, Bruce Trail, Dundas Valley Conservation Area, Griffin House, Fieldcote Memorial Park & Museum, Royal Botanical Gardens, Dundurn Castle, Crooks Hollow Conservation Area, Christie Lake Conservation Area and Tiffany Falls.[3] DirectionsLocated behind the Griffin House on Mineral Springs Road along the Homestead Trail. From Highway 403 take the Lincoln Alexander Parkway exit and keep to the right to merge onto Rousseaux Street. At the "T" intersection turn left onto Wilson Street East. Turn right onto Sulphur Springs Road and turn right again at the three-way stop to remain on Sulphur Springs Road. At the far end of the parking lot, follow the Homestead Trail to the waterfall.[3] The street address for the house (museum) is 733 Mineral Springs Road, Ancaster, Ontario.[4] HistoryThe area including this waterfalls was purchased by Enerals Griffin in 1830; Griffin and his wife Priscilla were originally slaves who had escaped from Virginia in the US. The Griffin family retained the property until selling it in 1988 to the Hamilton Conservation Authority. The Griffin House (Ancaster) had been built circa 1827 by the previous owner and was restored between 1992 and 1994. Over 3,000 artefacts were discovered during that period.[4] It is now a museum and, since 2008, a National Historic Site of Canada, operated as a joint project between the Hamilton Conservation Authority and Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum.[5] and is now the Griffin House National Historic Site.[6] References1. ^{{cite web|publisher=(www.cityofwaterfalls.ca)| title =Hamilton- Waterfall Capital of the World| url=http://www.cityofwaterfalls.ca/| accessdate = 2008-07-31}} {{commons category|Hamilton, Ontario}}2. ^{{cite web|publisher=(www.hamiltonnature.org) |title=Hamilton Nature- Heritage Falls |url=http://www.hamiltonnature.org/waterfalls/slideshow/pages/25_Heritage.htm |accessdate=2008-07-31 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20081121212724/http://www.hamiltonnature.org/waterfalls/slideshow/pages/25_Heritage.htm |archivedate=2008-11-21 |df= }} 3. ^1 {{cite book| title = Hamilton Waterfalls and Cascades: Research & Inventory Report, 2nd Edition| publisher = Hamilton Conservation Authority| date = November 2007}} 4. ^1 http://www.ancasterhistory.ca/griffinHouse.php 5. ^http://www.cityofwaterfalls.ca/griffin-falls/ 6. ^https://www.hamilton.ca/attractions/hamilton-civic-museums/griffin-house-national-historic-site External links
