}}Hesperocamelus is an extinct genus of terrestrial herbivore in the family Camelidae, endemic to North America from the Miocene through Pliocene 23.03—5.33 mya existing for approximately {{Mya|23.03-5.33|million years}}.[1] TaxonomyHesperocamelus was named by Macdonald (1949). It was assigned to Camelidae by Macdonald (1949) and Carroll (1988).[2][3] Its name comes from the {{lang-grc|ἕσπερος}} (hésperos, "western")[4] and κάμηλος (kámelos, "camel"),[5] Latinised.
