|taxon = Hostinella |fossil_range = {{fossil range|Upper Silurian|Lower Devonian}} |authority = Stur (1882) |subdivision = {{bold species list |H. heardii|D.Edwards (1980)[1] }}Hostinella is a form genus, used for bare dichotomously branching stems (axes) which have not been found in association with spore-forming organs or sporangia and so cannot be assigned to a more precise genus or species.[1] Specimens assigned to this genus have been found in Bathurst Island, Canada, in beds of Upper Silurian age (around {{Period span/brief|Upper Silurian|-1}}), where the stems are approximately 1.2 mm in diameter; and in Lower Devonian Senni beds (from around {{Period span/brief|Lower Devonian|-1}}) where the axes have a straited external appearance and contain xylem with tracheids (diameter: 40 µm).[1] It is known to co-occur with Krithodeophyton.[1] References1. ^1 2 3 4 {{Cite journal | last1 = Edwards | first1 = D. | title = Studies on lower Devonian petrifactions from Britain. 1.
