It is native to Eurasia, including Albania, Bulgaria, the states of the former Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, and Syria.[1] It is a dwarf deciduous shrub growing to {{convert|25|cm|0|abbr=on}} tall by {{convert|30|cm|0|abbr=on}} broad, with small oval grey-green leaves, and clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers with prominent stamens in summer.[2] As it requires sharp drainage to prevent winter rot, it is a suitable subject for the rockery or alpine garden. It increases by creeping lateral stems and self-seeds readily.[3] This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.[4] References1. ^{{GRIN | accessdate = 21 January 2018}} {{Commons category}}{{Taxonbar|from=Q4189614}}{{Hypericum-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|title=RHS A-Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants|year=2008|publisher=Dorling Kindersley|location=United Kingdom|isbn=1405332964|pages=1136}} 3. ^Hypericum olympicum.
