Icelandic broadcaster RÚV chose their entry via internal selection for the first time since joining Eurovision in 1986. Halldórsson had previously competed unsuccessfully in six previous Icelandic national finals (1986 – 1990 & 1992). At EurovisionOn the night of the final Halldórsson performed 7th in the running order, following Russia and preceding Austria. At the close of voting "Núna" had received 31 points (the highest an 8 from Denmark), placing Iceland 15th of the 23 entries.
