{{Infobox_gene}}Interleukin-36 beta also known as interleukin-1 family member 8 (IL1F8) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL36B gene.[1][2][3][4] Function The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. Protein structure modeling indicated that this cytokine may contain a 12-stranded beta-trefoil structure that is conserved between IL1A (IL-A alpha) and IL1B (IL-1 beta). This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.[4] References1. ^{{cite journal |vauthors=Smith DE, Renshaw BR, Ketchem RR, Kubin M, Garka KE, Sims JE | title = Four new members expand the interleukin-1 superfamily | journal = J Biol Chem | volume = 275 | issue = 2 | pages = 1169–75 |date=Feb 2000 | pmid = 10625660 | pmc = | doi =10.1074/jbc.275.2.1169 }} 2. ^{{cite journal |vauthors=Mulero JJ, Pace AM, Nelken ST, Loeb DB, Correa TR, Drmanac R, Ford JE | title = IL1HY1: A novel interleukin-1 receptor antagonist gene | journal = Biochem Biophys Res Commun | volume = 263 | issue = 3 | pages = 702–6 |date=Nov 1999 | pmid = 10512743 | pmc = | doi = 10.1006/bbrc.1999.1440 }} 3. ^{{cite journal |vauthors=Magne D, Palmer G, Barton JL, Mezin F, Talabot-Ayer D, Bas S, Duffy T, Noger M, Guerne PA, Nicklin MJ, Gabay C | title = The new IL-1 family member IL-1F8 stimulates production of inflammatory mediators by synovial fibroblasts and articular chondrocytes | journal = Arthritis Research & Therapy | volume = 8 | issue = 3 | pages = R80 |date=Jun 2006 | pmid = 16646978 | pmc = 1526623 | doi = 10.1186/ar1946 }} 4. ^1 {{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: IL1F8 interleukin 1 family, member 8 (eta)| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=27177| accessdate = }}
