The album was announced in early 2009, with the name being confirmed in December 2009.[1] The album was released on 21 May 2010 in Australia and Ireland, and on 24 May for the rest of the world,[2] followed by a UK tour of the album. In January 2010, Pendulum hosted the album preview Ear Storm event at Matter in London in which many top DJs performed sets of their own with Pendulum being the headliners.[3] The album was finished on 18 April 2010 and mastered by Brian Gardner at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios in Los Angeles.[4] Immersion peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart in its first week of release.[5] The album features a variety of sounds. Although drum and bass is highly featured, electro, house and metal styles are also within the 67 minute long album. The album features collaborations with Liam Howlett, Steven Wilson and the Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames. {{Album ratings| MC = 63%[6] | rev1 = AllMusic | rev1Score = {{Rating|3|5}}[7] | rev2 = Alternative Press | rev2Score = favourable[8] | rev3 = BBC Music | rev3Score = favourable[9] | rev4 = NME | rev4Score = 4/10[10] | rev5 = PopMatters | rev5Score = {{Rating|6|10}}[11] | rev6 = Rock Sound | rev6Score = 8/10[12] | rev7 = Sputnikmusic | rev7Score = 3.0/5[13] | noprose = yes }} Track listing{{Track listing| total_length = | all_writing = Rob Swire, except where noted | title1 = Genesis | length1 = 1:09 | title2 = Salt in the Wounds | length2 = 6:38 | title3 = Watercolour | length3 = 5:04 | title4 = Set Me on Fire | length4 = 5:02 | title5 = Crush | length5 = 4:13 | title6 = Under the Waves | writer6 = {{hlist|Swire|Paul Harding|Ben Mount}} | length6 = 4:54 | title7 = Immunize | note7 = featuring Liam Howlett | writer7 = {{hlist|Swire|Liam Howlett}} | length7 = 4:36 | title8 = The Island – Pt.I (Dawn) | length8 = 5:20 | title9 = The Island – Pt.II (Dusk) | length9 = 4:09 | title10 = Comprachicos | writer10 = {{hlist|Swire|Gareth McGrillen}} | length10 = 2:48 | title11 = The Vulture | writer11 = {{hlist|Swire|Mount}} | length11 = 4:03 | title12 = Witchcraft | writer12 = {{hlist|Swire|McGrillen}} | length12 = 4:12 | title13 = Self vs. Self | note13 = featuring In Flames | writer13 = {{hlist|Swire|Björn Gelotte|Anders Fridén}} | length13 = 4:45 | title14 = The Fountain | note14 = featuring Steven Wilson | writer14 = {{hlist|Swire|Steven Wilson}} | length14 = 5:00 | title15 = Encoder | writer15 = {{hlist|Swire|Peredur ap Gwynedd}} | length15 = 5:21 }}{{Track listing | collapsed = yes | headline = Deluxe version (iTunes) | total_length = 118:55 | title16 = Watercolour | note16 = deadmau5 remix | length16 = 6:06 | title17 = Watercolour | note17 = Emalkay remix | length17 = 5:07 | title18 = Witchcraft | note18 = Rob Swire's drum-step mix | length18 = 5:44 | title19 = Witchcraft | note19 = John B remix | length19 = 6:53 | title20 = Witchcraft | note20 = Chuckie remix | length20 = 4:59 | title21 = Witchcraft | note21 = Netsky remix | length21 = 4:56 | title22 = The Island | length22 = 9:29 | title23 = The Island | note23 = Tiësto remix | length23 = 6:45 | title24 = The Island | note24 = Cicada remix | length24 = 7:12 | title25 = The Island | note25 = Steve Angello, AN21 and Max Vangeli remix | length25 = 6:40 | title26 = The Island | note26 = Lenzman remix | length26 = 4:57 | title27 = The Island | note27 = Madeon remix | length27 = 4:06 | title28 = The Island | note28 = Statelapse remix | length28 = 5:15 | title29 = Watercolour | note29 = video | length29 = 3:29 | title30 = Witchcraft | note30 = video | length30 = 3:52 | title31 = The Island | note31 = video | length31 = 3:40 | title32 = The Making of Immersion | note32 = video | length32 = 11:15 | title33 = Making the Immersion Artwork | note33 = video | length33 = 4:34 | title34 = Witchcraft – Making of the Music video | note34 = video | length34 = 3:48 | title35 = Pendulum – Live at Wembley | note35 = video | length35 = 4:12 | title36 = Pendulum Live – Tour Graphics | note36 = video | length36 = 5:56 }}Sample credits
B-sideThe track "Ransom" was originally included in the album but it was later dropped as it "didn't fit the sound of the album". The band later stated that "Ransom will be either released as a free download to fans or a B-side but it will definitely see the light of day".[4] Rob Swire later stated that "Ransom" won't be released because he found the song to be "boring" after the intro, however that most of the project files for the song were corrupted when his MacBook hard drive malfunctioned.[14][15][16] However, on 6 April 2011, "Ransom" was released as a download only single on the group's website in aid of Japan's earthquake appeal, and entered the UK Singles Chart at number 193 the following week.[17] PersonnelWriting, performance and production credits are adapted from the album liner notes.[18] Pendulum
