INS Teg (F45) is the fourth {{sclass-|Talwar|frigate}} constructed for the Indian Navy. She was built by the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia,[5] and was commissioned to Navy service on 27 April 2012.[3] She is the first of the second batch of {{sclass-|Talwar|frigate|1}}s to be completed. Design{{Main|Talwar-class frigate}}Teg belongs to the {{sclass-|Talwar|frigate|4}} of frigates. The Talwar-class guided missile frigates are modified Krivak III-class frigates built by Russia. These ships use stealth technologies and a special hull design to ensure a reduced radar cross section. Much of the equipment on the ship is Russian-made, but a significant number of systems of Indian origin have also been incorporated. The main difference between Teg and the earlier Talwar-class ships is a) the use of BrahMos missiles in place of the Klub-N missiles and b) use of AK-630 instead of Kashtan in the earlier ships.[4] It is the first of the three frigates built in Russia as a follow-up order to the first batch of Talwar-class frigates. ConstructionTeg was laid down on 27 July 2007,[5] and launched on 27 November 2009.[4] Following post-construction work, she began sea trials in the Baltic Sea on 1 September 2011.[5] During Teg{{'}}s sea trials in mid-October, her port-side turbine was damaged, forcing a two-week delay in her trials schedule while repairs were made.[6] Teg completed her sea trials in early December 2011, leaving only acceptance trials before her delivery to the Indian Navy in April 2012.[7] These trials were completed in early February 2012.[8]INS Teg was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 27 April 2012, at the Yantar shipyard at Kaliningrad in Russia.[3] She was commissioned by Vice Admiral KN Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command with Captain Rakesh Kumar Dahiya serving as her first commanding officer.[9] References1. ^{{Cite web| url = http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/NAVY/Ships/Future/189-Frigate.html | title = Modified Krivak III Class}} {{commonscat|INS Teg (F45)}}{{Talwar class frigate}}{{Frigates of the Indian_Navy}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Talwar (F40)}}2. ^1 {{Cite book | last = Wertheim | first = Eric | author-link = Eric Wertheim | title = The Naval Institute Guide to Combat Fleets of the World: Their Ships, Aircraft, and Systems | place = Annapolis, Maryland | publisher = Naval Institute Press | page = 294 | year = 2007 | edition = 15th | url = https://books.google.com/books?id=5iDJCTRvNjEC&printsec=frontcover#PPA294,M1 | isbn = 978-1-59114-955-2}} 3. ^1 {{cite web | title = Indian Navy inducts stealth warship INS Teg |url = http://ibnlive.in.com/news/indian-navy-to-induct-warship-ins-teg-today/252666-3.html | publisher = IBN Live | accessdate=27 April 2012 | date = 27 April 2012}} 4. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://en.rian.ru/russia/20091127/157012714.html |title=Russia floats out first frigate for Indian Navy |publisher=RIA Novosti |date=2009-11-27 |accessdate=2011-04-06}} 5. ^{{cite web |title=Russia begins trials of stealth frigate for Indian Navy |url=http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-09-01/news/29953755_1_stealth-frigates-new-frigates-talwar-class |publisher=Economic Times |accessdate=10 December 2011 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/63orurDQv?url=http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/2011-09-01/news/29953755_1_stealth-frigates-new-frigates-talwar-class |archivedate=10 December 2011 |date=1 September 2011 |deadurl=yes |df=dmy-all }} 6. ^1 2 {{cite web |title=Russia: INS Teg Receives New Cruising Turbine at Yantar Shipyard and Continues Sea Trials |url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2011/11/16/russia-ins-teg-receives-new-cruising-turbine-at-yantar-shipyard-and-continues-sea-trials/ |publisher=Shipbuilding Tribune |accessdate=11 December 2011 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/63qJJ8sor?url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2011/11/16/russia-ins-teg-receives-new-cruising-turbine-at-yantar-shipyard-and-continues-sea-trials/ |archivedate=11 December 2011 |date=16 November 2011 |deadurl=yes |df=dmy-all }} 7. ^{{cite web |title=Indian Navy’s Frigate Successfully Passes Last Trials Before Delivery |url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2011/12/09/indian-navys-frigate-successfully-passes-last-trials-before-delivery/ |publisher=Shipbuilding Tribune |accessdate=11 December 2011 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/63qJajw0j?url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2011/12/09/indian-navys-frigate-successfully-passes-last-trials-before-delivery/ |archivedate=11 December 2011 |date=9 December 2011 |deadurl=yes |df=dmy-all }} 8. ^{{cite web |title=Yantar Shipyard Finishes Sea Trails (sic) for Indian Navy’s Fourth Talwar Class Frigate |url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2012/02/08/yantar-shipyard-finishes-sea-trails-for-indian-navys-fourth-talwar-class-frigate/ |publisher=Shipbuilding Tribune |accessdate=9 February 2012 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/65JJbH3MV?url=http://shipbuildingtribune.com/2012/02/08/yantar-shipyard-finishes-sea-trails-for-indian-navys-fourth-talwar-class-frigate/ |archivedate=9 February 2012 |date=8 February 2012 |deadurl=yes |df=dmy-all }} 9. ^1 {{cite web|title=Indian Naval Ship 'Teg' commissioned into Indian Navy|url=http://www.indiannavy.nic.in/PRel_120427_INSTeg-commissioned.pdf|publisher=Indian Navy|accessdate=28 April 2012|date=27 April 2012}} 3 : Talwar-class frigates|Frigates of the Indian Navy|2009 ships |
