HistoryThe IOG was founded in 1990 in Ottawa by Timothy Plumptre who acted as director and president until 2006. Its budget was C$1.5 million and it counted 18 staff (11 research, 7 administrative/support, 1 visiting) in 2003.[5] Maryantonett Flumian served as president between 2008 and 2018, during which time the IOG more than doubled in size. This period also saw the IOG expand beyond its traditional focus in the national capital area into projects in Nova Scotia, Ontario, British Columbia and Nunavut as well as multiple oversees projects, including a multi-year project in Iraq.[6] References1. ^{{cite web|title=About the IOG|url=https://iog.ca/about/|website=The Institute on Governance|publisher=The Institute on Governance|accessdate=4 December 2017}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://iraqnation.org/en/what|title=What this project is all about|publisher=Iraq Nation|accessdate=1 May 2018}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://iog.ca/about/team/ |title=Team |publisher=Institute on Governance}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=http://www.css.ethz.ch/en/services/css-partners/partner.html/57056|title=Partner|website=www.css.ethz.ch|language=en|access-date=2017-07-30}} 5. ^NIRA's World Directory of Think Tanks 2005 6. ^{{cite web |url=https://iog.ca/maryantonett-flumian-is-leaving-the-iog/ |title=M.
