词条 | Inverallochy Castle |
释义 |
The remains of buildings are arranged around three sides of a courtyard, with a curtain wall across the south side. A tower in the north-east corner remains largely to its full height, while the remaining curtain wall stands up to 10m high. The internal walls have largely collapsed. Evidence of a larger outer courtyard measuring approximately {{convert|60|m}} square to the north and east remains. The ruins are protected as a scheduled monument. The castle appears to have all been built at one time, and architectural evidence suggests an early 16th-century date. It may have been the work of Sir William Comyn of Inverallochy, who was Lord Lyon in 1512–1519.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite journal|url=http://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archiveDS/archiveDownload?t=arch-352-1/dissemination/pdf/vol_083/83_032_044.pdf |title=Cairnbulg Castle, Aberdeenshire |journal=Proceedings of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland |year=1949 |volume=83 |author=Simpson, W.D. |pages=32–44 }} [1][2]2. ^1 {{Historic Environment Scotland|num=SM97|desc=Inverallochy Castle|access-date=8 March 2019}} }} External links
