词条 | Invisible Churches (Slavery) |
释义 |
The public churches formed often with controversy within and outside the communities. The 'invisible institution' existed often as a forbidden aspect; slaves might be members of both the independent black church groups or congregations that were racially mixed (Raboteau mentions that some such congregations might have far more slaves than masters in attendance), but also participate in worship gatherings at night in secret locations, risking severe punishment to do so.[4] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Slavery in the United States - MSN Encarta |url=http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761580652_2/slavery_in_the_united_states.html |work= |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/5kwrRp2Lx?url=http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761580652_2/slavery_in_the_united_states.html |archivedate=2009-11-01 |deadurl=yes |df= }} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100729165905/http://www.africanaonline.com/slavery_sectional.htm|title=Slaves Life and Slaves Resistance|last=|first=|date=2010-07-29|website=Africanaonline|archive-url=|archive-date=|dead-url=|access-date=2018-03-04}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://lsm.crt.state.la.us/1nation/1nation8.htm|title=Louisiana State Museum|website=State of Louisiana Website}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.amazon.com/dp/0195027051|title=Slave Religion: The "Invisible Institution" in the Antebellum South|first=Albert J.|last=Raboteau|date=7 February 1980|publisher=Oxford University Press|via=Amazon}} External links
