He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) party in the governing Barisan Nasional coalition.[1] Ismail was elected to Parliament in the 2004 election and was re-elected in 2008 and 2013.[2] After the 2013 election he was appointed as Deputy Minister of Human Resources.[3] Election results
