释义 |
Jack Sound is a treacherous body of water[1] about {{convert|800|m}} wide between the island of Skomer and the Pembrokeshire mainland that contains numerous reefs and a tidal race of up to 6 knots. It is used by boats to avoid a three-mile detour around the island,[2] and has its share of sunken shipwrecks. The most popular wreck for divers is The Lucy, which sank in good condition in 1967 after being abandoned by its crew owing to its cargo of calcium carbide.[3] The sound is part of the Skomer Marine Conservation Zone.[4] References1. ^{{cite news|work=Dive Magazine|title=Jack Sound|url=https://archive.is/20070726094710/http://www.divemagazine.co.uk/news/article.asp?uan=3054|accessdate=19 January 2019}} {{coord|51.735|-5.259|display=title}}{{Pembrokeshire-geo-stub}}2. ^Low Carbon Lifestyle Tour {{webarchive |url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080727023246/http://www.lowcarbonlifestyle.org/diary/april.html |date=July 27, 2008 }} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Divetheworld: MV Lucy|url=http://www.divetheworld.com/Diving/Shipwrecks/MVLucy/index.htm|accessdate=19 January 2019}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Countryside Council for Wales: Skomer Island|url=https://archive.is/20150426031018/http://www.ccw.gov.uk/landscape--wildlife/protecting-our-landscape/historic-landscapes/skomer-island.aspx?lang=en|accessdate=19 January 2019}} 1 : Tides |
