PersonalWhitt was born in Norman, Oklahoma in 1990, the son of Kevin and Ki Whitt. At his father's urging, Whitt started pole vaulting in the seventh grade.[6] "My dad talked me into vaulting in the seventh grade. I was tall for my age and he thought a non-team sport would be better for me," said Whitt. "I did play football, basketball and baseball until the tenth grade. I was actually a pretty good pitcher." Whitt married Reagan Russell in July 2012.[2] References1. ^IAAF News, Saturday, 04 April 2009 2. ^1 {{cite news|title=High school pole vault record falls|url=http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/stories/other/04/04/0404relayside.html|author=John Maher|publisher=Austin American-Statesman|date=April 4, 2009|accessdate=2009-04-04}} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Norman North's Whitt wins USATF high school pole vault title|url=http://newsok.com/all-state-week-notebook-norman-norths-whitt-wins-usatf-high-school-pole-vault-title-flanders-session-face-off-in-40-yard-dash/article/3277542/?tm=1217568264|publisher=The Oklahoman|author=Justin Harper, Ryan Aber and Zach West|date=August 1, 2008|accessdate=2009-04-04}} 4. ^Jack was the sixth high schooler to clear 18 feet ever in the US which he did at the Texas Relays in April 2009.
