Jacky Vimond (born July 18, 1961 in Saint-Lô, Manche) is a French former motocross world champion.

Career

In 1984 and 1985, Vimond finished in second place in the F.I.M. 250cc motocross world championship behind Heinz Kinigadner. He finally won the title with Yamaha in 1986 becoming France's first-ever motocross world champion.[1] Vimond was badly injured at a victory celebration in honor of his world championship. As he was being lowered by wires to the stage while astride his motorcycle, something went wrong and he fell almost nine meters, injuring his back. His injury would end his career. After his retirement, Vimond became a motocross coach, helping young riders such as Paulo Sharp, Sebastien Tortelli, Stephane Roncada and David Vuillemin.
